Language Support

In 2024 FSY will be holding multiple language options across United States and Canada. There are two types of language sessions taking place:

Language Sessions are sessions held in languages other than English; the language in which the session is held is listed in the session title.

Language Supported Sessions are sessions held in English with a secondary language being offered in various ways (see below); the secondary language is in the session title.

  • Translation for a second language for session wide activities
  • Classes held in the second language
  • Young adult staff who speak English and the second language
  • Handbook offered in English and the second language

American Sign Language

This session will be held June 24–29, 2024 at Brigham Young University, Provo, UT. The session will be held in American Sign Language (ASL) and is intended for youth who are deaf or hard of hearing. For youth who are deaf or hard of hearing that do not know ASL, transcription (CC) is available for session-wide activities. Counselor-led activities will be held in ASL; some counselor groups will be able to use English. Participants can find the session listed as "FSY UT Provo 5C - American Sign Language" beginning on February 15, 2024 for on-cycle stakes, and March 7, 2024 for off-cycle stakes.

French Supported

This session will be held  July 22–27, 2024 at Carleton University, Ottawa, ON. Session is available for youth in Canada who speak French and is listed within pre-registration and registration as "FSY ON Ottawa 02 - French Supported."

Transportation to the session will not be covered by FSY unless your stake is assigned to this specific session and qualifies for transportation.

Spanish Supported

There will be three Spanish supported sessions that will be located across the United States in 2024. Sessions are available for youth in the United States who speak Spanish and are listed within pre-registration and registration.

  • "FSY AZ Thatcher 03 - Spanish Supported": June 10–15, 2024
  • "FSY TX Edinburg - Spanish Supported": June 10–15, 2024
  • "FSY FL Deland 01 - Spanish Supported": June 16–21, 2024

Transportation to the session will not be covered by FSY unless your stake is assigned to this specific session and qualifies for transportation.

Spanish: This session is a pilot and will be held July 15–20, 2024 at the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, UT. The session will be held entirely in the Spanish language and is available for youth in the United States who speak Spanish and is listed as "FSY UT SLC 07A - Spanish Only."

Transportation to the session will not be covered by FSY unless your stake is assigned to this specific session and qualifies for transportation.
