The Mexico MTC was established in 1979 and was located at the Mexico City Mexico Temple site until 2013. In June 2013, the Benemérito de las Américas high school was converted into the second largest MTC in the world.
The Mexico MTC is located in a busy area of Mexico City, approximately 45 minutes from the temple and 90 minutes from the area administration offices. The Benemérito Mexico Temple (announced in April 2022) will be built on the same campus as the MTC.
The MTC includes 53 homes, two large apartment buildings, 12 classroom and instruction buildings, an administration building, and a gym and auditorium. Other support facilities include a clinic, a cafeteria, an MTC store, and computer lab buildings. The MTC and its facilities cover 90 acres of land.
Exercise facilities include several large playing fields and outdoor courts for volleyball, tennis, pickleball, and basketball. There is also a large indoor gym with stationary exercise equipment and courts for basketball and volleyball.
The MTC can train up to 1,500 missionaries at a time.
