Mayavel Amado Pineda

Relief Society Advisory Council Member

Mayavel Amado Pineda is the daughter of Carlos H. Amado and Mayavel Pineda de Amado. She was born in Guatemala and spent her growing-up years in Guatemala, Mexico, and Argentina. Sister Amado served a full-time mission in the Spain Madrid Mission. Recent callings include Young Women adviser and counselor, ward and stake music director, Gospel Doctrine instructor, and temple ordinance worker.

Sister Amado earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and master’s degrees in both French studies and instructional psychology and technology from Brigham Young University. She has worked as a language instructor and as an instructional designer for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She takes great comfort that the Savior knows each of us intimately, for He took upon him the “pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind” and the “infirmities [of his people], that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities” (Alma 7:11–12).

Sister Amado loves the music of the Church, and her joy is helping people learn, develop their talents, improve their lives, and come closer to the Savior.
