Elder Hugo Montoya
Elder Hugo Montoya was sustained as a General Authority Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 4, 2015. At the time of his call, he had been serving as a member of the Fourth Quorum of the Seventy in the Mexico Area. He is currently serving as a member of the South America Southeast Area Presidency.
Elder Montoya worked at a family grape vineyard from 1975 to 1992. He worked with Xerox from 1996 to 2015, working in several capacities, including administrative assistant, HR manager, tax manager, payroll manager, and system consulting manager. He also worked as an institute teacher for the Church Educational System from 1988 until 1992. Elder Montoya and his wife were owners of a tortilla shop from 1993 to 2011.
Elder Montoya has served in a number of Church callings, including full-time missionary in the Mexico North Mission, Young Men president, elders quorum president, high councilor, bishop, counselor in a stake presidency, stake president, assistant area auditor, and area auditor for the Mexico Area.
Hugo Montoya Monroy was born in Fresno, California, on April 2, 1960. He married Maria del Carmen Balvastro in 1983. They are the parents of five children and have five grandchildren.
