Timothy J. Dyches was born in Murray, Utah, on January 15, 1951. He married Jill Elizabeth Dudley in April 1974. They are the parents of three children.
He attended Brigham Young University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in university studies. He received his medical degree and his specialty training at Washington University Medical School in St. Louis, Missouri.
He served in numerous Church callings, including full-time missionary in the Germany South Mission (1970–1972), high councilor, stake president, temple ordinance worker, Area Seventy, president of the Oregon Portland Mission (2008–2011), and deacons quorum adviser.
At the time of his call, Elder Timothy J. Dyches was serving in a ward Young Men presidency.
He served as a member of the Europe Area Presidency from August 2013 to August 2016 and is currently serving at Church headquarters as an assistant executive director in the Temple Department and chairman of the Restoration and Cancellation Committee.
In 1985 he began a private practice performing ear, nose, throat, and head and neck surgery until 2008, when he departed to serve as a mission president.
