Church Invites Members to “Light the World” with Service This Christmas

This Christmas, the Church is inviting people of all ages and religious backgrounds to not only to share the good news of Christ’s birth but to actively follow His example of service throughout the month of December.
The invitation includes an encouragement to watch and share the Church’s latest “Light the World” Christmas video, which will be available in 33 languages on both mormon.org and YouTube beginning November 25. The video calls to attention not only the Savior’s birth but also the moments of His ministry that illustrate His perfect example. Previous mormon.org Christmas videos have attained more than 65 million views all over the world.
Detailed at mormon.org beginning November 25, the Church’s 2016 Christmas message, titled “Light the World,” is inspired by President Thomas S. Monson’s address in the October 2015 general conference in which he stated, “As we follow the example of the Savior and live as He lived and as He taught, that light will burn within us and will light the way for others” (“Be an Example and a Light”).
The monthlong call to action to follow Christ’s example will feature “25 Ways. Over 25 Days.” During December, watch for 25 highlighted principles from Christ’s ministry and suggested ways you can follow His example featured daily on mormon.org and the Church’s various social media pages.
Those who share online content are encouraged to use the hashtag #LightTheWorld on their social media channels.
Displays in visitors’ centers, pass-along cards, and billboard and video displays in New York City’s Times Square will also encourage people to “light the world.” The Church has even reached out to leaders of other faiths to help promote this message during the Christmas season.
