2008
• February 3: Ordained and set apart as 16th President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
• February 10: Dedicated the Rexburg Idaho Temple.
• May 25: Addressed Canada stake conference broadcast in Brampton, Ontario, for 47 stakes and five districts.
• June 1: Dedicated the Curitiba Brazil Temple.
• August 10: Dedicated the Panama City Panama Temple.
• August 24: Dedicated the Twin Falls Idaho Temple.
• November 16: Rededicated the Mexico City Mexico Temple.

2009
• February 22: Spoke in Avon (Connecticut) Ward sacrament meeting.
• March 20–22: Dedicated the Draper Utah Temple.
• May 1: Received Honorary Doctorate of Communications from Utah Valley University; Sister Frances J. Monson also received an honorary doctorate.
• May 2: Awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Public Service by Southern Utah University.
• June 20: Dedicated the Church History Library.
• June 29: Addressed a VIP reception and attended Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square concert at Red Rocks Amphitheater near Morrison, Colorado.
• July 20: Presented U.S. President Barack Obama five leather-bound volumes of the president’s family history; was accompanied by Elder Dallin H. Oaks.
• August 21–23: Dedicated the Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple.
• October 9–11: Visited Nauvoo, Illinois, and Kirtland, Ohio, including the Kirtland Temple.

• April 2: Received an Honorary Doctorate of Humanities at Weber State University.
• May 2: Dedicated the Vancouver British Columbia Temple.
• May 23: Dedicated The Gila Valley Arizona Temple.
• June 13: Dedicated the Cebu City Philippines Temple.
• June 15: Visited the Hamilton New Zealand Temple and Church College of New Zealand.
• August 29: Dedicated the Kyiv Ukraine Temple.
• October 23: Broke ground for the Rome Italy Temple.
• November 21: Rededicated the Laie Hawaii Temple.

2011
• May 1: Rededicated the Atlanta Georgia Temple.
• May 6: Received an Honorary Doctor of Humanities degree at Dixie State College of Utah.
• August 21: Dedicated the San Salvador El Salvador Temple.
• December 11: Dedicated the Quetzaltenango Guatemala Temple.
• December 27: USA TODAY/Gallup Poll announced President Monson’s place in the “Most Admired Man” top 10 list; he was the first Church President to make the list.

2012
• May 6: Dedicated the Kansas City Missouri Temple.
• June 25: Dedicated Thomas S. Monson Camp for Young Women and families at Lakehurst, Ontario, Canada.
• June 26: Addressed joint sacrament meeting of Etobicoke Ward and Churchville YSA Ward and visited with members.
• June 27: Visited Toronto Ontario Temple and attended Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square concert in Toronto (addressed VIP reception prior to concert).
• August 17: Attended “Celebration of Life” held in Conference Center in honor of his 85th birthday, which was August 21.
• September 14: Received special recognition from Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge.
• October 6: Announced the change of mission eligibility age to 18 for young men and 19 for young women.
• October 13–21: Addressed member meetings in Hamburg, Berlin, Munich, and Frankfurt, and visited some LDS-related sites in Germany, including the Freiberg and Frankfurt Temples.
• October 28: Dedicated the Calgary Alberta Temple.
• October 30: Addressed northern Utah stake conference (74 stakes); broadcast originated in Ogden, Utah.
• November 18: Rededicated the Boise Idaho Temple.
