“Members of the Church in France have been looking forward to a temple to be built for years,” said Bishop Gérald Caussé, Presiding Bishop. “It’s an answer to prayers.” Bishop Caussé, who is responsible for the Church’s temporal affairs, was born in Bordeaux, France, and now lives in Utah. He has returned to his homeland many times to oversee construction of the temple. (See related story.)
The temple will be dedicated on Sunday, May 21, at 9:00 a.m., noon, and 3:00 p.m. The dedicatory sessions will be broadcast to meetinghouses in France and French-speaking units in the Europe Area. The three-hour block of Sunday meetings will be cancelled.
Former France missionaries and their families may request dedication broadcast recommends to attend at French-speaking stake centers and other selected wards in the Europe Area. Please send requests to templeopenhouse@ChurchofJesusChrist.org and include the name of each baptized family member, name of the ward they attend, and name of their bishop. Recommends will be mailed to the home address of bishops about four weeks before the temple dedication.

The dedication will be preceded by a cultural celebration on Saturday, May 20, 2017, featuring music and dance performances by local LDS youth.
The 44,175-square-foot Paris France Temple is located in Le Chesnay in the western suburbs of Paris. Once dedicated, it will become the 156th operating temple of the Church worldwide.
Although there is no angel Moroni on the temple due to height requirements, there is a beautiful statue of the Savior in the garden on the temple grounds.
There are currently about 38,000 members of the Church in more than 100 congregations in France. Missionaries are serving in two missions in the country.
The closest temples French Latter-day Saints have attended in the past are in Frankfurt, Germany; The Hague, Netherlands; and Bern, Switzerland.
