  • Amplify your study of the New Testament this Easter with the 3D app of Christ’s Jerusalem.

Do you ever wish you could roam around ancient Jerusalem during the time of Christ, visit the Pools of Siloam where He sent the blind man to be healed, or stand on the Mount of Olives overlooking the beautiful temple?

Now you can with a stunning new 3D app called “Virtual New Testament.” This quality resource, jointly created by the Church and BYU Virtual Scriptures team, allows you to experience Jerusalem at the time of Jesus.

Just in time for Easter and your personal or classroom study of the final week of the Savior’s life, the app helps you immerse yourself in the scriptures by providing a detailed visual context for the scriptures you are studying.

For example, get a better sense of the scope and scale of the major features and buildings in the ancient Holy City. Using your device’s gyroscope, choose from one of many locations in the ancient city and enjoy a 360-degree view of Jerusalem and the surrounding hillsides. You can also explore the Temple Mount in a ground-level walk-through of various courts of Herod’s Temple, helping you visualize the significant events in the life of Jesus and His Apostles that occurred there.

Download the free app in the iOS App Store or Android Play Store (search for Virtual New Testament), or for Macs or PCs go to nt.byu.edu.

The developers welcome feedback on this first version of the app at virtualscriptures@byu.edu. The app eventually will include other virtual models, such as Galilee and Bethlehem, as well as integrate relevant scripture passages.
