On Thursday, the First Presidency announced the Oakland and Washington DC Temples would close for renovations. The Oakland Temple will close in February 2018, while the Washington DC Temple is scheduled to close in March 2018.

The Oakland Temple is expected to be completed in 2019, the Washington DC Temple in 2020. Public open houses will be held for both temples before each is rededicated.

The visitors’ centers at both temples are popular sites for people of all backgrounds and will not be affected by the renovations, said Church spokesman Dale Jones.
