Jesus Christ loves each one of us individually, and the way He shares His love is just as personal. Jesus’s love is easier to find when we create moments to seek it out, whether by praying or by studying His words in the Bible and the Book of Mormon. Another way you can feel His love is by sharing your love with others. The Bible teaches that as we live in peace with one another, we can feel Jesus’s love for us.

Jesus’s teachings cover a broad range of topics, including love, service, prayer, and repentance. Here are a few well-known teachings that can guide your life:

Jesus’s teachings in the Bible

“Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself” (Matthew 22:39).

“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you” (Matthew 7:7).

“Judge not, that ye be not judged” (Matthew 7:1).

“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth … : but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven” (Matthew 6:19–20).

“Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted” (Matthew 5:4).

Jesus’s teachings in the Book of Mormon

“And again I say unto you, ye must repent, and become as a little child, and be baptized in my name” (3 Nephi 11:37).

“For verily, verily I say unto you, he that hath the spirit of contention is not of me” (3 Nephi 11:29).

“Pray in your families unto the Father, always in my name, that your wives and your children may be blessed” (3 Nephi 18:21).

Missionaries are volunteers who have set aside their normal lives for up to two years to help others come closer to Jesus Christ. Before leaving on a mission, they were students, employees, athletes, bookworms, musicians, and—well, you get the idea. After their service, they will return home to finish college, work, date and marry, and live a pretty normal life. 

They come from all over the world. It’s not uncommon for missionaries to serve in a country and speak a language other than their own. Missionaries serve as single young adults or in their retired years. Whatever their age, their motivation is sincere—they leave their homes and families for a period to do what Jesus taught His Apostles: “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15).

Church service times vary from congregation to congregation. However, you can always count on one main worship service for everyone, followed by classes for children, youth, and adults. 

The service for everyone is called “sacrament meeting.” This meeting consists of songs, prayers, and sermons (or “talks”) given by different members of the congregation every week. But the most important part of the meeting is when we take the sacrament (which is similar to Communion) to remember the Savior.
