The Path to Peace and Healing wordmark

Find Healing through God’s Word

The scriptures can bring you comfort, strength, hope, and guidance.

God gave us the scriptures as a roadmap to a better life. They can guide you, inspire you, and comfort you no matter your circumstances.

The Bible was written by ancient prophets and inspired recordkeepers for the benefit of God’s children. It teaches us what God wants us to do and provides inspiring examples of faith. Most importantly, you can learn about the life and mission of Jesus Christ and read His teachings, which will lead you to eternal life.

Like the Bible, the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ is another book of ancient scripture that teaches and testifies of Jesus. It tells the story of God’s children in the Americas during biblical times, and the crowning event of the Book of Mormon is the Savior’s visit to His people in the Americas after His Resurrection.

Finding Hope in a Scripture Verse

When Amelia hit an “all-time low,” a verse in the Book of Mormon helped change her perspective.

1:33

Both books of scripture can help you better understand God’s plan for you and the path He has provided for returning to live with Him someday. The scriptures can be a source of strength against temptation. When you’re struggling with a difficult question, studying the scriptures daily puts you in the right place to receive guidance from God. When you’re going through trials, the Holy Spirit you feel as you read the scriptures is one way Jesus fulfills His promise: “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27).

As you study God’s word, these tips can help you get the most out of reading the scriptures:

Read Every Day

Remembering to study the scriptures will get easier the longer you do it. But to start out, you may need to set an alarm on your phone, subscribe to a daily Bible verse email, put up a sticky note reminder, or pair reading your scriptures with an already-established habit such as brushing your teeth.

Start with a Prayer

Praying before you read the scriptures invites the influence of the Holy Spirit. Through the Holy Spirit, God can guide you to relevant verses and send thoughts and feelings about what you’re reading to help answer your questions.

Don’t get discouraged by comparing your efforts to what others are doing. It’s OK to start small, with just a few verses a day. You can also experiment with reading a physical copy or listening to an audiobook version, studying by topic, or reading cover to cover. Find what works for you!
