Find Healing through Hope

The hope that Jesus Christ provides can be a beacon lighting the way through dark times.

When the struggles of day-to-day life pile up, it can be easy to forget the amazing things you have to look forward to because of God’s love. We know from Revelation 21:4 that someday “God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain.”

The word gospel means “good news”—the good news that God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to overcome sin and death on our behalf. Because of your Savior, Jesus Christ, you can repent and be forgiven of all your sins. And because of Him, death isn’t the end. You can look forward to living with God and your loved ones in joy and peace forever.

The Hope of Life after Death

After Clark’s father died, he drew strength from his hope in God’s plan.

All of these blessings can be a source of hope in difficult times.

As you keep an eternal perspective, remember you also have resources to help you in the here and now. You can pray for help. You can reach out to family or friends. You can seek professional help from a therapist, doctor, crisis hotline, or other qualified source. If you feel hopeless, don’t try to carry that burden alone. Decide right now what you’re going to do to seek help.

As you try to build more hope in your life, it can help to focus on building your faith in these six principles:

  • God knows and loves you.

  • The things He does are for your benefit.

  • With God, nothing is impossible.

  • You have a Savior, Jesus Christ, who died for you.

  • Because of Jesus, you can repent and be forgiven of your mistakes.

  • You can be with your loved ones again in the next life.

“But that ye have patience, and bear with those afflictions, with a firm hope that ye shall one day rest from all your afflictions.”

—Alma 34:41 (Book of Mormon)

“And what is it that ye shall hope for? Behold I say unto you that ye shall have hope through the atonement of Christ and the power of his resurrection, to be raised unto life eternal, and this because of your faith in him according to the promise.”
