It’s okay to be sad. You can be sad and still have faith that God loves you and that things will be okay in the end.

Don’t be afraid to talk to someone about your feelings, such as a grief counselor, a family member, a trusted friend, or a religious leader. Allow them to comfort you, even if they can’t fully understand what you’re going through.

You can also find peace in the gospel of Jesus Christ. God is there and He cares about you and is aware of you. Jesus took upon Himself all suffering so He would know how to help you overcome yours. You can be with loved ones again after death. These teachings don’t take away all of the pain, but they can provide hope and understanding.

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away” (Revelation 21:4).

Yes! Because of Jesus Christ, death is not the end for any of us. Our Savior’s atoning sacrifice, death, and resurrection made it possible for all of us to live again. And if we follow Jesus Christ, be baptized in His name, and live righteous lives, we can look forward with hope to an eternal life of joy with God and our families.

Families are central to God’s plan, both in this life and the life to come. Family relationships, including marriages, are meant to last forever. We can be with our loved ones again after death—even those ancestors we never had an opportunity to meet here on earth.

To make this possible, God has given us temples. In temples, we can choose to be married for time and all eternity. These temple marriages, or “sealings,” seal a husband and wife and their children together for eternity.

Sealings can also link generations of families together, connecting us with ancestors who love us and want us to be happy. In the temple, we can be married, be baptized, and make other sacred promises with God on behalf of family who did not have the opportunity to do so here on earth. These ancestors can choose to accept what we have done for them and receive those blessings.

Missionaries are volunteers who have set aside their everyday lives for up to two years to help others come closer to Jesus Christ. Before leaving on a mission, they were students, employees, athletes, bookworms, musicians, and, well, you get the idea. After their service, they will return home and go back to normal life.

They come from all over the world. It’s not uncommon for missionaries to serve in a country and speak a language other than their own. Missionaries serve as young adults or in their retired years as singles or couples. Whatever their age, their motivation is sincere—they leave their homes and families for a period to do what Jesus taught His Apostles: “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15).

Church service times vary from congregation to congregation. However, you can always count on one main worship service for everyone, followed by classes for children, youth, and adults.

The service for everyone is called “sacrament meeting.” This meeting consists of songs, prayers, and sermons (or “talks”) given by different members of the congregation every week. But the most important part of the meeting is when we take the bread and water of the sacrament (similar to Communion) to remember the Savior.
