Beginning June 7, 2024.

Join us for free concerts at the Brigham Young Historic Park on Temple Square. Concerts are held on Friday evenings throughout the summer. These hour-long concerts are open to the public, and all ages are welcome. No ticket needed. With a wide variety of musical styles, there’s something for everyone. Take a look at the list of performers below.

There is free parking after 5:30 p.m. in the North Office Building east lot (125 N. State Street) which is accessible going southbound on State Street.

Friday, July 5 – Mama’s Boys

7:30 p.m. in the Brigham Young Historic Park
Come enjoy Mama’s Boys, a family bluegrass and western band led by a father and his five sons. With over 20 years of performances across Utah, including a residency as the house band of a local dinner theater, they will present a captivating musical journey across many different styles of “homegrown” music.

Friday, July 12 – Wasatch and District Pipe Band

7:30 p.m. in the Brigham Young Historic Park
Wasatch District and Pipe Band returns by popular demand, bringing an authentic Scottish experience with bagpipe music and highland dance. They have performed for U.S. and international audiences, including at the renowned World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow, Scotland. Tonight, it’s our turn!

Friday, July 19 – Opera Unveiled – A Journey through Timeless Melodies

Join four accomplished and charismatic performers—Tiffany Mortensen (soprano), Sarah Munsell (mezzo-sopran0), Seth Gruber (tenor), and Shane Mickelsen (piano)—for an evening of classical music with timeless melodies that will stir your soul and make you laugh and cry. You’ll recognize some of opera’s most beloved arias, as well as beautiful spirituals and popular songs.

Friday, July 26 – Broadway Showstoppers

Always a crowd favorite, this concert will be an exhilarating evening of classic songs and contemporary favorites from the Broadway stage performed by Utah’s premier talent! Come enjoy the timeless melodies and messages of these beloved songs.

Friday, August 2 – Coco Garcia’s Rumba Libre Band

Experience the soulful rhythms of Latin music with our special guest Coco Garcia, a seasoned musician leading the Rumba Libre Band. They will perform a mesmerizing blend of salsa, cumbia, merengue, and Latin jazz.

Friday, August 9 – Sesame Suite

Introducing Alicia Wrigley’s Sesame Suite—a fun fusion of classic Sesame Street songs with new jazz twists from an accomplished seven-piece jazz ensemble! Join us for an evening that takes seriously something kind of silly, entertains but also educates, and fills listeners with nostalgia for the past and hope for the future! There’s sure to be something here for every age, so bring the family!

Friday, August 16 – N8tive Hoop

Discover the mesmerizing rhythms and graceful movements of Native American Hoop Dance! Terry Goedel and N8tive Hoop have been spotlighted in the Olympics, worked and traveled with Cirque Du Soleil, and toured the world with BYU’s performing group Living Legends. This talented family is excited to share their heritage with you through an interactive performance including stories and dance.

Get ready for a high-energy night of bluegrass and “newgrass”! Tap your toes and hold onto your hats for familiar favorites and reimagined classics, featuring some fast fiddling, tight harmonies, and saucy solos.

A thrilling conclusion to the summer line-up, music, dance, and art come alive to celebrate the vibrant Polynesian culture. Malialole Entertainers are cultural ambassadors who will share the rich heritage and timeless stories of Pacific Island people. Come immerse yourself in the beauty of Polynesian tradition and be part of an unforgettable evening filled with joy and aloha. Don’t miss out!

Additional Information

  • Location: The Brigham Young Historic Park is at 50 West North Temple Street on the southeast corner of State Street and Second Avenue/North Temple Street.
  • Parking: There is free parking after 5:30 p.m. in the North Office Building east lot (125 N. State Street) which is accessible going southbound on State Street. Learn more about additional parking information.
  • Chairs: A limited number of chairs will be available. Feel free to bring your own blankets or lawn chairs. Out of courtesy for other guests, please do not save seats ahead of time or block the view of others with shade tents or umbrellas.
  • Restrooms: The nearest restrooms are across State Street in the Plaza south of the Church Office Building, just north of the Beehive House.
  • Weather: In the case of inclement weather, concerts will be moved indoors (either to the Conference Center Theater or to the Tabernacle on Temple Square). If a concert is moved indoors, information will be made available at least two hours prior to the concert at 801-240-3323.
  • Food: You’re welcome to bring picnic food. Please be sure to clean up after yourselves.
  • Recording: Audio or video recording of the concert is not allowed, due to Church licensing agreements. Photos are encouraged, just not during the performance.
  • Not Allowed: Alcoholic beverages and weapons are not permitted on Church grounds, including the Brigham Young Historic Park.
  • All events are subject to change.
