This Christmas, the Church has dozens of Giving Machines set up all around the world. (Here’s a map!)
They look like vending machines—but instead of buying snacks, you buy things like eyeglasses, chickens, or meals that are given to people in need! All of the money you donate will go directly to the people or cause you have chosen because the overhead costs are covered by the Church. You can learn more about them in this month’s magazine.
A young woman named Kylie told us about when her grandma encouraged her family to earn money to donate. Kylie and her brother Brayden sold hot chocolate by their mom’s work! Other cousins raked leaves and washed bins to earn cash.
“We put our money together and decided as a group what we wanted to purchase at the Giving Machine,” she said.
They were able to buy class tuition, 150 meals, and a safe house for a family!
“All of us felt like we had really accomplished something good,” Kylie said. “Jesus would have been happy with us!”
If there’s not a Giving Machine physically close to you, you can still donate online here. Or donate to the humanitarian aid fund using a tithing envelope. Maybe you could even decorate the outside of the tithing envelope to look like a red giving machine!
Let’s Light the World this Christmas season!
