It’s a beautiful influence for good in our world.
Have you ever seen someone go out of their way to help a complete stranger? Ever received an unexpected kindness from someone you didn’t know well? There is so much goodness in this world!
And we have the Light of Christ to thank for that. Elder Bednar taught that the Light of Christ “influences us to be good and to do good.”1
Here’s what we know about that sacred light.
The Light of Christ …
- Is given to everyone.
- Fills the earth.
- Is not a person.
- Influences people to do good.
- Prepares us to receive the Holy Ghost.
So how does this fit in with the Holy Ghost?
The Holy Ghost …
- Is given to those who are baptized and confirmed by priesthood authority.
- Is a spirit person and the third member of the Godhead.
- Also influences us to do good.
- Blesses us with comfort, protection, revelation, purification, and other gifts.
- Can be with us constantly if we live worthily.
Examples of Light
Have you ever known someone who was not a member of the Church but seemed to be full of goodness—the Light of Christ? What did you learn from that person?
