Purpose
Education will set you on a course for long-term success, including whatever career path you choose. When you have a fulfilling and stable job, it will be easier to focus on other important things such as your family, church service, and community involvement.
Goal Ideas
- Learn what kind of education or training is required for the career you are interested in. A career or guidance counselor, the internet, or someone working in the profession can all be good resources.
- Write down everything you learn about the career you are interested in, as well as questions you still want answered, and refer to your notes when you make decisions about your education.
- Create a timeline for your education—starting with what you can do now and what you need to do in the future—to prepare for the job you want.
- Get involved in a volunteer opportunity related to the career you are interested in.
- Take advantage of things outside of classroom time—such as internships, lectures, or conferences—to gain experience and make contacts with people in your future profession.
- Save money for the education you’ll need, including tuition, licenses, certifications, and other expenses. You can also research scholarships and grants that may help cover some of the costs.
