Exercise
No gym required!

God has blessed you with a wonderful body, and He wants you to treat it with respect. One way you can show gratitude is by doing your best to stay healthy. Plus, being healthy feels great!

You don’t need any fancy equipment to try this exercise routine.*

Warm up:
Walk quickly or jog for 5 to 10 minutes.

Workout:
Do each of these for 30 seconds. Repeat the list a few times if you need an extra challenge.

  • Squats. Stand with your feet apart. Put your arms out in front of you and lower your hips as if you are sitting down. Keep your back straight and your weight on your heels. Stand up slowly again.
  • Push-ups. Lie facedown on the floor, legs straight. Place your hands by either side of your shoulders. Push your body up to rest on your hands and toes. Now slowly raise yourself until your arms are straight, and lower yourself until your arms are bent to a 90-degree angle.
  • Sit-ups. Sit on the floor, knees bent in front of you. Cross your arms across your chest. Slowly lie back until your shoulders are on the floor, and then sit up again.
  • Mountain climbers. Rest your weight on your hands and toes as if in a push-up. While holding that position, pull your right knee toward your chest. Then switch legs and pull your left knee toward your chest.

Cool down:
Walk for 5 to 10 minutes.

Make a Playlist

Create a playlist of music to help you stay pumped up while you exercise!

*Be safe: Start slow. If exercising is new to you, talk to a doctor, parent, or coach before trying these. You could look for online videos to see exactly how to do each exercise safely.

Hi James! I'm not a senior, but I did injire my foot 9 months ago that made traditional exercise very difficult. I did, however, find that there are invaluable resources online depending on the need. I've been doing a chair workout routine I found online specifically for those with a hurt foot-I'm amazed I can get my blood pumpibg so much excercising in a chair! I wonder if they have workouts online suitable for seniors as well?

This is very good. What do you recommend seniors do? Thanks.
