“Is this thought coming from the Holy Ghost?” If you’ve ever wondered that, you’re not alone!
Elder David A. Bednar gave this great advice: “I think we overcomplicate this. I think we overanalyze it. Moroni teaches that all good emanates from Christ. So if you have a thought to do something good, it’s prompted by the Holy Ghost. … If it invites and entices to do good, it comes from Christ and we ought to do it [see Moroni 7:13, 16].”1
Here’s how different youth answered this question:
Sejdi from France said: “If you’re not sure whether you have received revelation, the Holy Ghost will always show you. … Turn to your scriptures, pray, and be worthy to have the Holy Spirit and you will know the truth of all things.”
Ruth from Illinois, USA, said: “When you get a righteous thought, it comes from our Heavenly Father. If you think you need to do something good, do it even if it comes from your mind. If you’re listening to the Holy Spirit and living righteously, even the little thoughts in your mind that are righteous should be acted upon.”
Julia Lyne from Utah, USA, said: “The way the Holy Ghost speaks to us is different for each person. But you should notice a significant difference in the way you feel [see Galatians 5:22–23]. Pray to know how the Holy Ghost speaks to you. He will show you.”2
