Did you know there are more named women in the Old Testament than in any of the other standard works? A lot of them are pretty cool too!

Here are ten women you might have noticed—or that you will notice in upcoming readings.

8. Ruth
9. Hannah
10. Esther

How did these women help move the work of the Lord along? What lessons can we learn from their examples? For instance …

• Eve made it possible for all of us to live on earth and become like God. (See Genesis 3.)
• Deborah and Jael helped deliver the Israelites from captivity. (See Judges 4–5.)
• Esther saved the Jewish people from destruction. (See the book of Esther.)
