Here’s what 3 Nephi 13 might’ve been like.
Prayer, like baptism, was something that followers of Christ had been doing for centuries.
But like baptism, Christ clarified how to do it correctly when He visited the Nephites. The words of the prayer He offers in this chapter is very similar to a prayer recorded in the New Testament. It’s sometimes called “The Lord’s Prayer.”
Through His prayer, Jesus Christ taught the Nephites (and us) that we should pray by addressing Heavenly Father. And that we can ask Him for things such as:
- Forgiveness for our sins and shortcomings.
- Strength to overcome temptations.
- Help accepting God’s will in all things.
