Do you have a favorite youth activity—one that you still think about months later?
That activity probably took some planning and preparation—and maybe A LOT of planning and preparation!
Usually, when we take time to plan activities, they turn out better. They’re more engaging and fun!
I remember one time we planned a Young Women activity where we wanted to learn about emotions. We didn’t know much about the topic—what emotions are or how to feel them, accept them, and express them.
As part of the planning, we were sharing a lot of ideas. Finally, we decided to choose a book to read and learn more so that we could teach each other about the topic. We learned a lot, and it was a great activity!
In Moses 3:5 we read, “For I, the Lord God, created all things, of which I have spoken, spiritually, before they were naturally upon the face of the earth.”
We can apply this scripture to how we plan our Young Women and youth activities. We need to plan first, which is similar to the spiritual creation mentioned in this verse, by:
- Thinking about the needs of those in our class
- Having a clear purpose
- Sharing our ideas
- Counseling together
- Writing a plan
And THEN we can carry out our ideas, or physically create them.
What have you done with your Young Women class presidency or class to help you plan purposeful, fun activities? We want to hear your ideas, so comment below!
Hugs,
Andrea
