Meet Elder Patrick Kearon!
18 Dec 2023 | 1 min read
He has been called to be a special witness of Jesus Christ.
When President M. Russell Ballard died in November, it left a vacancy in the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. Now Elder Patrick Kearon has been called to serve! Here are a few facts about him.
- He is from Britain and Ireland.
- He joined the Church in the 1980s after noticing how members “lived a joyful existence founded on service.”1
- He met his future wife, Jennifer, while she was visiting London on a study abroad college program. They were married in the Oakland California Temple.
- He and Jennifer have four children: Sean (who died in infancy), Elizabeth, Susannah, and Emma.
- He’s worked in a variety of jobs in the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, and the United States. At one time he ran his own communications business.
If you want an even better feel for who Elder Kearon is, check out some of his general conference talks, which show the tender heart he has towards those who are suffering. In 2016 he encouraged compassion toward refugees, and in 2022 he shared a message of hope to those who have experienced abuse.
We will have a chance to sustain Elder Kearon in our next general conference in April!
