Ministering makes a difference!

Just ask Amelia.

Can you think of a general conference talk that mentions ministering? To “minister” means to reach out to others in love, helping them with what they need, and making sure they feel included.

Sometimes we’re asked formally through an assignment to minister to someone. Other times, it can just happen naturally as we pay attention to those around us.

Amelia, from New Zealand, is grateful for the friends and Church leaders who ministered to her and helped her family get used to attending Church again.

She was especially happy when she was able to perform baptisms in the temple for her great-grandmother, who had recently passed away.

“The joy I felt after getting baptised for her showed me that her spirit was there with me,” Amelia said.

“I was also baptised on behalf of some of my other ancestors, dating back to the early 1800’s. Doing this for them makes me so happy!”

You can read more of Amelia’s story in the October For the Strength of Youth magazine.

To Think About

Who has helped you feel welcome at Church in the past? What’s something you can do this month to make people feel extra welcome?
