More temples are being built than ever before!

Each one is a House of the Lord.

If your grandparents are members of the Church, they may remember a time when there were only 17 temples on earth.

Fast forward about four decades, and President Russell M. Nelson announced that many temples in a single session of general conference!

Here’s the list. Do you live in any of these places? We’d love to hear what your thoughts are when the temple was announced in your area!

  • Chile (Puerto Montt)
  • Colombia (Medellín)
  • Dominican Republic (Santiago)
  • El Salvador (Santa Ana)
  • Ireland (Dublin)
  • Italy (Milan)
  • Mexico (Juchitán de Zaragoza)
  • Mozambique (Maputo)
  • Nigeria (Abuja)
  • Uganda (Kampala)
  • USA (Alabama, Arizona, Idaho, New Jersey, Texas, Utah, Wisconsin)

Now would be a great time to make a plan to visit whichever temple is closest to you. You could even do it as a class activity.

For example, one young women class took art supplies to the temple grounds and sat for a while, drawing the temple and talking about why it was a special place.

Why is the temple special to you?

Geography Challenge

Can you find each of the areas listed above on a map? Which is closest to you?
