How long can you go without blinking?
Within a few seconds, your eyes begin to burn and tear up. It’s inevitable.
We all have to blink.
Blinking is like repenting.
“We all need to repent,” our prophet said.
It’s a fact of life.
To repent is to repair.
To see clearly requires blinking thousands of times a day.
Likewise, repentance is the work of constant corrections to repair not only our mistakes and missteps but also our relationship with God.
Sometimes, we persuade ourselves that repentance is a burden, and we put it off.
But just like blinking brings immediate relief, repenting brings immediate rest.
Repentance brightens us!
At the end of a long day of blinking, we close our eyes and rest.
At the end of a long day of earth life, full of mistakes simply because we’re human, we can repent and find rest in Jesus Christ.
