Let’s explore temple recommend question 2.
The second temple recommend question reads, “Do you have a testimony of the Atonement of Jesus Christ and of His role as your Savior and Redeemer?”
Why use the words “Savior” and “Redeemer” specifically?
- Jesus Christ saves us from both physical and spiritual death (see 2 Nephi 9:10). Because of His Resurrection, death is not the end. We will each received a perfected body after this life (see Alma 40:23).
- Jesus Christ redeems us from sin. Because He suffered for our sins, we have the chance to repent, change for the better, and someday return to live with God forever (see Alma 42:15).
The Atonement of Jesus Christ is the most important thing that will ever happen on earth, and you will learn more about it in the temple. Everything in the temple points us to Jesus Christ.
