Gospel Living

Want to feel lasting joy?

It’s what our Savior offers!

Did you notice how many talks at general conference spoke about the JOY the gospel can bring into our lives?

Joy is different than happiness. It’s deeper and more long-lasting. We can have feelings of peace and joy even when hard things are happening!

In the Book of Mormon we can read about Nephites who saw the Savior and were healed by Him. They were so overcome with emotion that they “did bathe his feet with their tears” (3 Nephi 17:10).

This song is a celebration of the joy the Savior offers each of us. Scroll down for lyrics. We have hope—today and eternally—because of Him!

To Think About

How is joy different from happiness? What gospel truth brings you joy? This would be a great question to ask a faithful parent or leader.

PS—You might’ve heard this song before, but this version is from the recent music festival. Search using the key words “Youth Music Festival” to find other posts and videos.

“What Is This Joy?”

I touched a thread
And you healed me
I took a step
On the raging sea
You broke that bread
Then You filled me
What is this feeling
Somebody tell me

I was in the grave
Till You called my name
Drawing in the sand
You erased my shame
At the waters edge
Until You said
“Take up Your bed”
I took up my bed!

Something good
Good is happening

Chorus:
You caught me by surprise
Amazed me
Feel it in my soul
What is this joy?!
With every breath
That You give me
Gonna shout it out
What is this joy?!

You fill me up with wonder
I wonder now
What is this joy?!
Whoa...

You took up the cross
And set me free
When the lions roared
You stood by me
With spit and dirt
You touched my eyes
I once was blind
Now I can see
Something good
Good is happening

[Chorus]

I may weep at night
In the shadows
When the morning comes
What is this joy?!
When the battle strikes
And I’m surrounded
Gonna sing it out
What is this joy?!
You fill me up with wonder
I wonder now
What is this joy?! Whoa...

Something good
Good is happening

Audience:
(Repeats throughout)
God is good
Good is happening

Bridge:
You run to me
When I’m far from home
You’re the morning light
When the mourning comes

You’re in every breath
You’re in every step
You’re the finish line
The Author with the pen

You are my joy
You are my song
You’re the morning light
When the morning comes

You’re in every breath
You’re in every step
You’re the finish line
Beginning and the End

Savior and my Friend
The Great I Am
You are Good
Yes, good things are happening.

[Chorus]
