Jesus Christ. Children

We are little children—but we are His little children.

From Doctrine and Covenants 49–50.

It must have been exciting to be a Latter-day Saint in the early days of the Church, when so many new things were happening all the time. But it was probably nerve-racking sometimes, too. The Church was like a child: small, young, and still learning the basics. Who would protect it?

You can imagine how comforting it must have been for the Saints to hear the Savior’s words in section 50 of the Doctrine and Covenants:

“Fear not, little children, for you are mine, and I have overcome the world, and you are of them that my Father hath given me; and none of them that my Father hath given me shall be lost” (Doctrine and Covenants 50:41–42).

When we take Jesus’s name upon us and follow Him, we become His. We belong to Him.

And how many people that belong to the Savior will be lost?

None. Zero.

Nobody slips through the cracks. Once you’re His, unless you choose to forever separate yourself from Him, you have a protector for life.

P.S. No matter how old you get, you’ll never grow tired of the Lord referring to you as one of His “little children.” Trust us on that one.

Childlike vs. Childish

Being childlike in our faith doesn’t mean acting childish in how we behave. (Sorry, no tantrums!) Read Mosiah 3:19 and write what being “as a child” means to you personally.
