Mindful Meditation
Quiet moments can invite the Spirit.

We live in a crazy, fast-paced world! When we’re constantly on the go, it can be hard to remember to slow down and appreciate individual moments.

President Dieter F. Uchtdorf said, “Let us simplify our lives a little. Let us make the changes necessary to refocus our lives on the sublime beauty of the simple, humble path of Christian discipleship—the path that leads always toward a life of meaning, gladness, and peace.”1

Prayer and pondering are great ways to welcome peace. A lot of people also find that practicing meditation helps them feel more relaxation and peace in daily life. Here’s something simple to try:

  1. Find a quiet place.
  2. Sit, stand, or lie in a comfortable position.
  3. Gently close your eyes.
  4. Breathe deeply and slowly—in through your nose and out through your mouth.
  5. Notice the sounds around you. What can you hear? Don’t focus on any one sound, but let your awareness drift from one to another.
  6. Next, focus on being aware of your body. Start with your toes and move to each body part until you get to the top of your head.
  7. Continue to breathe slowly and deeply.
  8. Whenever you are ready, open your eyes.

Prayer and pondering are equal with meditation and mindfulness, or instead what they should be. Taking time everyday to pray and ponder, and then LISTEN, is the simplest method that allows you to feel the Spirit and the love that our Heavenly Father has for you. He is there and He is ready to help us develop the habit of keeping a peaceful mind, we just need to take the time to focus on Him. Meditation isn't emptying your mind, it is focusing on one thing to find the right perspective, in general or for a specific situation. Use these quiet moments to feel joy and love from the Godhead, so that your testimony can grow as you share that love with others.

A great way to prepare to pray. I’ve practiced and taught mindfulness meditation. It’s a way of living life and not simply a daily practice. Thinking the primary song “My Heavenly Father Loves Me”. Whenever I hear the song of a bird or look at the blue blue sky….the Lords church teaches mindfulness practices subtlety from our earliest instruction to the temple ceremony. I am grateful for the stillness practices Christ’s church and gospel have taught me.

It took me 3 months just to learn to make my mind quiet for 10 min every other day during meditation. But it taught me,my spirit has the ability to control the mortal tabernacle.
