Lots of objects can help us understand more about testimonies. For example, a testimony is like…
A seed. You have to nourish a seed to help it grow. How can you nourish your testimony?
Oil in a lamp. The Savior shared a parable about this (see Matthew 25). It doesn’t matter if your friends have a testimony—you need to have your own!
A pet. If you don’t “feed” your testimony with spiritual experiences, it will grow weak and sickly.
A house. A wise person would build on a solid stone foundation, you know. A foolish person might build on sand. Sound familiar?
A puzzle. There’s no single right way to put a puzzle together. We each learn about parts of the gospel in different ways, too. Don’t throw away a piece just because you can’t see how it fits right now.
A bucket. It fills up gradually, drop by drop. Sometimes you don’t even realize how much you have collected—especially if you focus on what you are lacking instead of on what’s already there.
