Looking ahead is a good idea, but don’t forget to find joy in the here and now.

President Dieter F. Uchtdorf once warned, “Sometimes … we become so focused on the finish line that we fail to find joy in the journey.”1

For all those ultra-planners out there, here’s something to consider: maybe learning about what brings you joy now will actually make future decisions easier! Knowing your likes and dislikes can be a powerful tool in preparing for your future.

So what brings you joy? Over the years, several Church leaders have spoken about hobbies and interests. For example, President Russell M. Nelson enjoys skiing. President Henry B. Eyring loves to paint with watercolors.

Maybe you could try:

  • Joining a new club.
  • Talking with family members about their talents.
  • Connecting with someone whose job you’re interested in learning about.

In the Book of Mormon, we learn that people exist so “that they might have joy.”2 Yep, you read that correctly: God wants you to be happy as you work toward your goals!

Find Your Happy

Take 10 minutes today exploring something that makes you happy.
