Have you ever heard a phrase like “where much is given, much is required”?
Variations can be found in sources ranging from superhero quotes to scripture verses.
The idea—that we’ve been trusted with a spiritual birthright that comes with responsibility—is something Brother Bradley R. Wilcox spoke about in his recent general conference talk.
“God trusts you, the children of the covenant, to help with His work of bringing all His children safely home to Him,” he said.
Brother Wilcox invited us to think of mortality like a cruise ship. Others may choose to drink and lounge around during the journey. But because of the covenants we have made, we are part of the crew!
And, like a crew, we are offered compensation for our work.
“Your covenant relationship with God and Jesus Christ is a relationship of love and trust in which you have access to a greater measure of Their grace,” he said. “That power is not just wishful thinking, a lucky charm, or self-fulfilling prophecy. It is real.”
