Production Technician
Description
As a production technician missionary, you are the backbone of the work accomplished by the Nauvoo Performing Missionary Program. From designing and presenting lighting to mixing audio during shows, these elders and sisters help make experiences enjoyable for all audiences. During shows, they assist with stage management duties and usher guests. For those with appropriate experience, there are also opportunities to assist in costume alteration and repair, sets, props, and other related responsibilities.
Single members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from the United States and Canada are invited to audition. Only a limited number of missionaries can be called. Talent, training, and experience are important. Other significant qualifications include physical health and character traits such as spiritual maturity, willingness to obey mission rules, and enthusiasm for serving. As with any mission assignment, performers are required to be temple-worthy. They commit to live by missionary standards and follow a rigorous schedule of preparation, rehearsal, and performances.
Application Dates: August–October the year before the desired performance season.
Performing missionaries in Nauvoo are 18–25-year-olds. You may apply before you are 18 but must have turned 18 by the time you arrive in Nauvoo.
A one-time fee to cover housing, airfare, ground transportation, costumes, and other program-related expenses is required. The fee for 2024 is $1,000 due on March 1, 2024. In addition to this fee, missionaries use personal funds to cover meals and personal items during their service. This tends to be $400-$800 during the 14-week stay in Nauvoo.
