Historic Nauvoo provides visitors with the opportunity to experience the past and learn how the early members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints lived and worshiped. In the 1840s, Nauvoo became a thriving city with a beautiful stone temple, a symbol of the faith, perseverance, and diligence of the Saints. While the Saints had to leave Nauvoo and begin again in Utah, the foundations laid here continue to impact the Church today. Through restored and reconstructed buildings, we remember the stories of those faithful individuals who helped build this covenant community.
