The Martin Harris Farm was a 320-acre farm near Palmyra, New York.
Martin Harris assisted Joseph Smith as a scribe as he translated the Book of Mormon and provided the financial support necessary to print the completed translation of the book. Martin Harris was also one of the
three witnesses who saw the gold plates and the angel Moroni.
In 1829, Harris mortgaged his farm to
Egbert B. Grandin to ensure payment to publish 5,000 copies of the Book of Mormon. He later sold 151 acres of the farm to raise enough money to pay off the debt.
In 1937, 88 acres of the original Martin Harris farm including the cobblestone house where the original farmhouse once stood, were purchased by
Willard Bean on behalf of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
