Joseph Smith was a young man who lived in the northeastern United States in the early 19th century-- --who wanted to know which church to join. He was confused, because he was looking for the different religions, and he was going, which one is the true one? He went to a nearby grove of trees. He knelt down and prayed. And as he prayed, he had a great experience that happened to him. Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ came to him-- --and under the direction of our Savior, Jesus Christ, restored the Church as it was originally when Jesus Christ was on the earth. I can understand his confusion and why he wondered where the truth was, because there were so many different philosophies on religion. And there's still that same thing today. I can see Joseph Smith in every one of us as the inquisitor that wants to know, that wants to know the truth, that wants to seek. And I think that he's a perfect example of a humble person and what God and Jesus Christ can do to a humble person that honestly wants to know the truth. I've related to him on that same level of, where's the truth? It is just exactly parallel to my finding out things. Of course, I was 16. He was 14. I had so many questions that I just really didn't know what to do it. When I asked Heavenly Father if this was true, I felt a peace that I had never felt. Bottom line, I can't deny how I feel. I mean, it was true. I knew it was true. And that's what I really love about the story of Joseph Smith, is that it's not a story of somebody who I can't relate to. It's somebody that I can say, "I've been there. I've been searching for the truth." Joseph Smith brought back the gospel. And because of him, we have The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
