Alma the younger counsels his sons. He invites Helaman to keep a record of the people. He commends Shiblon for his righteousness. He commands Corianton to repent.

Alma Counsels His Sons | Alma 36–42

Alma the younger explains his conversion to his son Helaman. Alma promises that if Helaman keeps the commandments of God, he will prosper. Alma asks Helaman to continue keeping the sacred records of the people.

Alma Testifies to His Son Helaman | Alma 36–37

Alma the younger encourages his son Shiblon to put his trust in God and promises that God will continue to help him through hard times. Alma testifies that for all people, salvation comes through Jesus Christ. 

Alma Commends His Son Shiblon | Alma 38

Alma the younger’s son Corianton did not keep God’s commandments. Alma helps him understand how serious it is to commit sexual sin. He pleads with Corianton to repent. 

Alma Admonishes His Son Corianton to Repent | Alma 39

Corianton asks his father, Alma the younger, how to repent. Alma tells him that Jesus Christ will come into the world to take away our sins. Alma talks about the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Alma Teaches Corianton about Resurrection and Judgment | Alma 39–41

Alma the younger tells Corianton that Jesus Christ will come into the world to take away our sins. He talks about the judgment of God and His justice and mercy. Alma says to look to the Savior for forgiveness.
