FamilySearch Center. In 1823, the angel Moroni quoted the prophet Malachi to Joseph Smith: “And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse” (Malachi 4:6; see also D&C 2). The LDS Church is well-known around the world for its genealogical research, and family history has become an important element in the lives of Latter-day Saints.
