What makes the Book of Mormon so powerful is, the convincing evidence of the Restoration. We're trying to help people realize the gospel of Jesus Christ was lost, but restored. The Book of Mormon is evidence of that Restoration. It plays a tremendous role in everything we do as missionaries and everything the Church stands for. We wanted to show you how you can know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. Okay. To know if God really had called Joseph Smith to be the prophet to restore His gospel back onto this earth. Are you interested in learning how to do that? Yes. Yes, I'm open to know more about it, and I really think, because of my experience with all the people that I have met, there is no reason for me to close myself or my door to you. Somehow God wants me to learn something, and I'm very willing to read and learn and see for myself if it's the truth. That's good because it shows your desire to know what God wants you to do. Exactly. We're going to share how you can know that truth and know it from God. I would say Alejandra has a lot of real intent. She said she's trying to find the truth from God, and that's why she's been talking with us. I think she has a lot of intent to learn and act upon the things that she learns from God. What we want to do is let you read this paragraph right here. Okay. Work on my English! "We invite all men everywhere to read the Book of Mormon, to ponder in their hearts the message it contains, and then to ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ if the book is true." From reading that, what is it inviting us to do? To read about it and to question if it's from God or not. Who does it say we should ask? God. In whose name? In the name of Jesus. So what does that sound like to you? The truth. It sounds like the truth, but also prayer. That's true. How we can know. It's basically telling us that if we read from the Book of Mormon, and if we ponder, meaning to think about things, and you said question, as well, if these things are true- If we really want to find out, we can ask our Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ to know these things. And then, could you read that next line that's there?
"Those who pursue this course and ask in faith will gain a testimony of its truth and divinity by the power of the Holy Ghost." Wow. So what is that saying? Well, that if you have faith, you will get illuminated by the Holy Spirit and you'll find your answers. Yeah! It says if we read it, and ponder what it's saying, and pray to God, in the name of Christ, He'll let us know through the Holy Spirit. Through the Holy Ghost. We were just talking with Alexis, and he finished reading the Book of Mormon a couple months ago. How has the Book of Mormon blessed your life, Alexis? Well, a little bit ago you asked about what is the Book of Mormon, what does it teach. I remember reading at the end of the Book of Mormon, and there is a man who writes in it called Moroni, and when I read that chapter, wow! It just blew my mind, and my faith increased so much in Jesus Christ. I am a convert myself. I wasn't always part of this Church, but after reading that book this year, there's no doubt in my mind that it's true. That's great. Why is it important to know the Book of Mormon is true? Well, our salvation depends on it. I mean for me, I don't know about you, what the question means to me is it would be great because I know I will be on the right road, no? The way that you can know that is by reading and praying about the Book of Mormon. Okay. That's my homework! We want to leave with you a passage in the Book of Mormon- Okay. After you read, ask God in the name of Christ, pray about it, that it's true. Okay. If we leave you a chapter, will you read, and pray about it? How long is the chapter? No, I'm kidding! We could even get you one in Spanish if that would be better. That would be great, just in case I have any complications. Good idea. So what I'm going to do is, I'm going to mark a chapter that talks about what's known as the gospel of Jesus Christ: the things that we need to do in our lives to have happiness and return and live with God. It's going to talk about those things; it's going to talk about faith, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end. The Book of Mormon is the Lord's tool for missionary work because it's that evidence, that power to convince them to know that what we are sharing is true.
