All of us are going to be touched by this disease, most likely. We learn the skills to be a caregiver. But also that we live in such a way that if it comes to us personally, that those final scenes of our dramatic life, they can still be full of faith. We've been married for 53 years. I got married when I was 20 and she was 21. My mother had to go down and sign for my marriage license, see? So I've accused her of robbing the cradle all these years. So anyway, I was the lucky one. Those who are researching this disease know a lot. Much of it has to do with amyloid plaques. The nerve endings and those stimuli that cause you to think are basically blocked by these plaques. Christ has a special heart, room for a childlike demeanor. Either you're growing up or you get at her age and become more like a child again, just those child-like attributes that we really shouldn't lose throughout our life. It's just a great reminder. Amyloid plaques can't take away the fact that we're spiritual beings, and that we can be stimulated, spiritually. And that love transcends all, and you see that in the people's eyes who are full of faith. Faith is meaningful to them. That's what attracted me to her, way back there 53 years ago. Because she surely had the love of Christ in her heart, and that attracted me. I think that it's interesting that happiness and a joyful personality, a positive personality, continues to express itself into these facilities. I think mostly faith comes from the people that are trying to help someone else accomplish whatever it is they're working towards. She's lost a lot of her memory, but she remembers the tunes. That's something strange, but she remembers the music, so that's great. Teach me to know of the things that are right. Teach me, teach me, to walk in the light. I think faith is strengthened by challenge. These last scenes of our life can be a real challenge, and those with faith are sustained. Oh, I think it's been spiritually uplifting. As long as I can feel the Spirit of the Lord burning in my chest, I'm at home. I feel faith in my heart and in my soul. Despite the changes which come into our lives, and with gratitude in our hearts, may we fill our days as much as we can with those things which matter most. May we cherish those we hold dear and express our love to them in word and in deed. My sincere prayer is that we may adapt to the changes in our lives, that we may realize what is most important, that we may express our gratitude always, and thus find joy in the journey.
