For many years my roof has needed to be repaired. I’m poor, and I’ve been waiting to find somebody who will do this work. And I could pay some money, but not too much. But I never found such a person who wanted to help me.

We found Peter because the leader of his congregation asked us if we’d help out. We’ve had a little experience with roofs, so we decided to help Peter out. Why’d they come? Why did so many people come to do something for me? Because they love Jesus Christ. We’re taught that by helping others, our lives will be blessed for it and our families’ lives will be blessed for it. I don’t know Peter, but I know he needed some kind of help. That’s our way of paying back the goodness the Lord has given to us here on the earth. I’ve never met anyone in my life who came to me and asked, “What do you need? We want to help you.” The teachings of Christ are for people to lift each other and help each other. You could see joy in his eyes, almost to the point of tears. I’ve never seen such good people. Thank you for your help, your work, everything. I will never forget your goodness.
