Jesus Christ taught us that if we love someone, we should serve them and help them. One way that we become more like Him is when we serve others without wondering what's in it for me. People may ask, "Who is my neighbor and who should I give service to?" Our Savior, Jesus Christ, told us that everyone is our neighbor. We should help everyone. But in the scriptures, we're taught how to love one another and how to take care of each other. It's really the principles of helping and taking care of one another. I think it's a God-given responsibility for us to respond when we have the resources to do so. When I get out and serve others, it just drives that belief home even further. Again, it's not how we can help ourselves, but how we can help more people. And it's something that, in the scriptures, we're taught how to love one another and how to take care of each other. When we participate, we're showing how that's done rather than sitting back and watching someone else do the work.
