To be a bishop in the ward is meant to be that I'm serving the sons and daughters of my Heavenly Father. As a bishop, I'm not just a bishop for those that are members. I'm a bishop for everyone in my area. We have Sister Johnson. She didn't know where to get a job. She didn't know what she wanted to be. You know, we sat down and analyzed our goal to see where we were. I said, "Sister Johnson, let's be patient to see what we can find." My main goal was to work in a hospital. I found this training that it was to be a nurse aide. And I say, "Guess what? If you take your time to do this training, I can see in this next five months, six months that you will not only get a job, you will get a future." I prayed hard about everything, and you know, things were all good. Sister Johnson agreed with me. She said, "OK, I will do whatever you want, bishop, for me to do." He helped me go back to school, and he told me to go ahead and finish CNA, a certified nurse's aide. She is a member of the Church. Her husband is not. At that time her husband and I had a nice conversation. I went to their home to visit, and we became good friends. We sat down with bishop and talked about everything, so he knows our life story. During that time I helped them financially with food. I never worried about food because I know we were blessed with Bishop Sanchez. But the greatest thing that happened during this time is how her husband reacted out of all these things. I play basketball. Every time that I was bouncing the ball, and I see the gym nice and shiny, I know that Brother Johnson was there early in that morning, mopping that gym. That was his assignment that I gave him. We worked with him closely. I saw the progress in what Sister Johnson was doing. I had been pushing into the area for a plasma center, a blood bank. And today I can say to you that Sister Johnson has graduated. I got certified and got my certificate for that. Two days ago she got two job offers. They called me. I got interviewed there. And she said, "But what do you think, bishop, I should take?" I have choice now. Bishop Sanchez, great, great bishop. Thankful for him. I believe in a plan that has been made by our Heavenly Father. I have a strong testimony about that plan. I know that He thinks about us individually every single day, because every day that I kneel in front of my bed, I do, I do, feel His influence in my heart.

She Has a Choice Now
