[MUSIC PLAYING] I looked around me, and I questioned whether I could make a difference. Could I, as one person, truly make a difference? [MUSIC PLAYING] Once a month we're given the opportunity as members of the LDS Church to donate a fast offering. And what that is, is skipping two meals, and then donating that amount of money to the welfare program. We have a stewardship as members of the Church to do good wherever we can. The gospel teaches us to love one another. And this really is the epitome of that, where we spend time helping bless lives, teaching them skills, and helping them be self-reliant. We're asked to love everyone, which means caring for everyone, which means sharing everything that we have with anyone who might need it. This is just Church members willingly giving of their time to help. And there is a shortage of that throughout the world. When I take a day off from my regular job, I'm coming here to help. I'll never know who receives the loaves of bread that we bag and slice at the bakery. I will never probably know the people who receive the food that we sort at the food bank, or the blankets that we make, or the humanitarian kits that we put together. I will never know these people. And you know what? It doesn't matter. The reason we are here on earth is not to just look after ourselves, but to make life better for those around us. When you forget yourself and go to work for other people, your problems don't seem so big. [MUSIC PLAYING] The day that they put their arms around you with humility, with gratitude, is beyond description. It's a great service to come here, to work here, and to give service. And it is a part of my mission, I think. It just fills your soul to know that you can give. And then it becomes not about you, not about me, not about anything except being in the hands of the Lord and loving other people. I feel very blessed to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which does do this kind of work for the people that are members of our church and not. If we can help anyone, anytime, anyplace, it's worthwhile. It enriches ourselves. It gives stature to who we are and how we approach life. [MUSIC PLAYING]
