Relief Society is all about serving. It was originally set up to assist the needy and help the poor, so this is an awesome opportunity for us as Relief Society sisters to implement the Relief Society motto, charity never faileth. I think young women really want to feel like what they're doing has worth. And what we're doing right here, right now will help those all over the world in need. The miracle of what happens here in the Madera Vineyard is that you have thousands of unskilled, untrained volunteers who miraculously finish a job here and we're able to send hundreds of tons of raisins to go to help feed the poor and needy all over the world. 100% of this crop is going to be donated. It is going to go to hurricane victims, earthquake victims, tsunami victims, somebody that needs some food. Raisins are a healthy commodity. They ship well. They store well. Coming to the vineyard is one of our main service projects for the Relief Society. We're out here as a group of Relief Society sisters with many other groups from our church, and it just feels great to be working together to serve. We come out here. We cut all the grapes. You have to let them dry out, and then roll them up, and load them onto the truck. It's tedious work. It's hot and it's sweaty, but everyone's out here. You're serving with everyone. So you still have a good time and you know it's going for a good cause. Often times sisters, when they're coming out of Young Women and they just turned 18 and they're supposed to go to Relief Society, they're a little unsure. They think Relief Society is just something that their mom belongs to. When I first came into Relief Society, I was really, really scared because I thought it was stereotypical canning and quilting, but it really isn't. It's all about getting together and trying to help one another. Relief Society, it's like sisterhood. We all come together and we treat each other like sisters. Just as if there were a need, we are there to help. We do this because we're followers of Jesus Christ. He taught us to love and serve one another and that's what we're trying to do. This opportunity to concentrate our time to service of the Lord, it just makes me reflect on how much the Savior did for each of us and His sacrifices for us. And I'm so grateful that I have this opportunity to be able to give back to Him. And so when we have this opportunity to serve together, it just bonds us and helps us to take what we learn from the vineyard. And we're going to continue looking for service opportunities in other places. So that motto, charity never faileth, will continue throughout our lives.
