The Primary president oversees the Primary organization of the ward. Together with her counselors, they make up the Primary presidency. These leaders take time for spiritual preparation to help them receive inspiration for themselves, their families, and their callings. They serve in councils as they participate in presidency meetings and ward council.

They minister to children and teachers in a personal way. They teach gospel principles during sharing time on Sunday and at activities. They understand and administer the programs of Primary.

Watch the following examples of Primary presidents and counselors as they lead the Primary organizations in their wards.

Primary leaders are a support to parents in their efforts to raise righteous children.

As presidency members take time for personal gospel study and prayer and strive to live gospel principles, they receive inspiration to guide them in their personal lives, their family responsibilities, and their callings.

[MUSIC PLAYING] A Primary presidency works as a council when they hold a presidency meeting. The Primary president presides as they counsel together about the needs of children and teachers and make plans to accomplish the purposes of Primary in the ward or branch.

The Primary president serves as a member of the ward council. As a member of this council, she participates in efforts to build faith and strengthen individuals and families.

The Primary presidency ministers to children one by one as they learn children's names and become familiar with their talents, interests, and challenges. They look for ways to strengthen children individually.

They also minister to Primary teachers and support them in their efforts to teach the gospel.

Primary presidency members teach gospel principles and testify of truth. They plan and teach the sharing time lesson in Sunday Primary. They also teach gospel principles when other opportunities arise. [SPEAKING SPANISH]

Presidency members administer the programs of Primary, such as Faith in God, activity days, and Scouting, where applicable.

They strive to gain a testimony of and become familiar with each aspect of the Primary program.

As Primary leaders apply principles of leadership in fulfilling their callings, they lead the Primary in a way that will strengthen children and families.
