The Church handbook of instructions tells us, "Young women gather each Sunday to increase their gospel understanding, to recognize how the gospel answers their daily questions, to have opportunities to feel the Spirit, and to strengthen and share their testimonies." Effective leaders know that these things are only accomplished as they prepare spiritually, consider the needs of individuals, and help each young woman to apply the gospel in her daily life. As you watch the video, consider your next lesson and what you can do to strengthen the young women in your ward or branch.

[MUSIC PLAYING] Young Women leaders can impact the daily lives of their young women through teaching spiritual lessons. These lessons provide opportunities to answer their questions, teach the doctrine, and strengthen their testimonies. To increase the effect of Sunday instruction, Young Women leaders should prepare spiritually with each girl in mind and seek the guidance of the Spirit. [SPEAKING FOREIGN LANGUAGE]

Sister Li prepared for her upcoming lesson by considering the needs, concerns, and questions of her young women. As Young Women leaders show love and concern for those they teach, it will enhance their lesson and invite the Spirit into the classroom. [SPEAKING FOREIGN LANGUAGE]

Preparing spiritually and considering individuals' needs allows leaders to help young women apply the gospel in their lives. As young women apply the gospel, their testimonies grow and they become converted.

In the Brazil Brazil Ward, a Young Women leader prayerfully prepared a lesson on honesty. She was not sure why she was prompted to teach it in a certain way until the following week. [SPEAKING FOREIGN LANGUAGE]

As they prepare spiritually and consider the needs of individuals, leaders can teach young women to apply the gospel in their lives. These lessons can build testimonies and invite young women to come unto Christ. [MUSIC PLAYING] To apply what you have learned, you may want to identify ways that you can prepare spiritually.

Think of a young woman in your ward or branch. Consider how your lessons can meet her specific needs.

As you consider your lessons, ask yourself, "How can I help the young women in my ward or branch apply those principles in their daily lives?" For more information about helping teachers and planning effective lessons, see the general leadership principle from chapter 3, "Teach the Gospel." You can find a link to that training under "Leadership Principles" on the right-hand side of this site. [MUSIC PLAYING]
