"If ye have desires to serve God ye are called to the work." As a leader or quorum adviser, you have an opportunity to help young men prepare for full-time missionary service.

This is accomplished as you prayerfully plan and provide spiritual experiences.

Watch these quorum advisers as they discuss their efforts to help young men in preparing to serve full-time missions.

The Lord expects each young man to be prepared and worthy to serve a mission.

The handbook states, "Parents have the primary responsibility for helping their sons prepare to serve full-time missions." Working with quorum presidencies, advisers support parents as they teach their sons physical fitness, social and emotional maturity, and financial preparation for full-time missionary service. [MUSIC PLAYING] Quorum advisers and bishopric members begin helping young men prepare for missionary service in the deacons quorum and continue throughout their years in the Aaronic Priesthood.

From the handbook we learn, "The earlier a young man decides to serve a mission, the more likely it is that he will serve." Young men preparing for missions should be able to discern when the Holy Ghost testifies of truth.

Quorum advisers working with quorum presidents can provide spiritual experiences to help young men know and recognize the Spirit.

These opportunities are found in lessons, activities, and priesthood service.

Young men will also feel the Spirit as they attend seminary classes.

These experiences help young men learn to recognize the Spirit, gain experience acting upon those promptings, and share what they are learning.

In Guatemala, Brother Alvarez, a Young Men adviser, was prayerfully seeking a way to provide spiritual experiences for the young men in his ward.

[SPEAKING SPANISH] In ward council, the bishop discussed a few families that had not recently enjoyed the association of ward members and turned to the ward council for help.

Brother Alvarez recognized that this was the opportunity he had been seeking.

He presented this to the quorum presidency, and they made a plan to visit these families. [SPEAKING SPANISH] [MUSIC PLAYING] As they visited each member, the Aaronic Priesthood holders gained a testimony of love and service.

They came to a better knowledge of each family and how to help them.

And when an ill sister asked their Melchizedek Priesthood-holding adviser for a blessing, they quietly witnessed the power of the priesthood of God.

Because Brother Alvarez was actively seeking spiritual experiences, he was able to meet the need in the ward while preparing quorum members for future lives of Church service.
